History
Our journey began under the name Alter Ego Events, through which we successfully organised a series of educational and charity events. As our work expanded into Western Europe and our mission grew in scope, the team recognised the need to evolve from a local initiative into a structured NGO. This transition led to the creation of Cornerstone EU, an Association dedicated to advancing education and empowering youth across Europe.
While all of our past activities were carried out under the banner of Alter Ego Events, Cornerstone EU now represents the continuation and expansion of that mission on a broader and more sustainable scale.
Mission
Cornerstone EU is a Luxembourg-based association, dedicated to enhancing education. Through research and collaboration, we create learning environments where curiosity is valued over compliance, character development over grades, and understanding over memorisation. We believe that the answer to education's shortcomings is not incremental reform but the courage to build something fundamentally better.
We envision a world where education is tailored to the specific needs of the individual and aids them in developing decision-making skills. The underlying issue as of today is that education is built on memorisation, rather than the application of knowledge. As AI reshapes what knowledge means, the case for rote memorisation collapses entirely, and this is precisely where Cornerstone EU is building the alternative. We envision a system where every young person discovers their unique purpose, develops critical thinking alongside empathy, and learns not by memorising but by doing.
Where curiosity is the highest virtue, failure is a teacher, and knowledge is pursued not for grades, but for the love of understanding itself. Cornerstone EU exists to design and prove that model through research, practice, and an unwavering commitment to what education can become.

We believe the desire to learn is more valuable than the ability to score. Education begins when a young person asks "why?" and is met with encouragement, not silence.

Mind, body, and character are not separate subjects. We develop young people as complete human beings, not specialists in passing exams.

Intellectual Courage means the willingness to question assumptions, sit with uncertainty, and defend a reasoned position even when it is unpopular. We create environments where young people learn not just what to think, but how - with rigour, honesty, and the confidence to be wrong in pursuit of something truer.
Empathy
How we treat each other shapes who we become. Respect, psychological safety, and non-violent communication are not additions to our model; they are the foundation.
Purpose
Every young person carries something unique. Our role is not to standardise, but to help each individual discover and pursue their own mission.
